Staying in Colchester for our Spring Convention April 20th and 21st 2024

Food, Drink & Refreshments: There is a small café on site at the Minories, and Colchester Town Centre has a range of great restaurants and places to eat. The convention programme will include breaks for lunch and tea / coffee, but refreshments are not included as part of the convention fees; more info about this will be sent to attendees nearer the time. There are plenty of places in the area to enjoy good food!

Accommodation: Note that there is no accommodation on site at the gallery, so you need to book your own. You are welcome to stay anywhere near the convention venue. Prices range from 60 to 130 GBP per night. There are a large number of hotels in Colchester to choose from, you should be able to find something to suit all price points.

The closest hotel to the venue is the GreyFriars, a luxury 4 star hotel which is less than 50m from the conference venue. Further away from the venue, but still within easy walking distance, are the town Castle Premier Inn (which is a scenic 5-minute walk to the venue through the parkland of Colchester’s roman castle) and the North Hill Hotel, both of these have been tested by volunteers visiting the BOS library. There are several hotels on the high street in the heart of the town centre, these are all very close to the venue and can be some of the cheapest options (The Red Lion, The George and St Nicholas), however avoid these if you want a quieter night’s sleep as there are many bars and clubs which will stay open into the night. There are also several AirBnB options in the local area giving a range of choices.

Travel: Colchester Town station is the closest to the venue and is only a 5 minute walk away but has limited services on a Sunday, Colchester mainline station is about 1 mile from the venue and has plenty of buses and taxis which can get you to the venue. There is no parking at the venue, although there are several car parks nearby we recommend you leave vehicles at your hotel if staying overnight.
