Samurai Helmet Challenge!

Create a model based on the traditional kabuto – the samurai helmet.

One of the best ways to start creating origami, or for experienced designers to get inspiration is to adapt an existing model. For our convention in September we would like you to try to make something new from the traditional origami samurai helmet.

Anything is possible – let your creativity run wild. Will your design be a new style of hat, an animal, a modular, an action model, or something else?

Learn to fold the model from this video, taught by Paul Hanson, or you can find diagrams and read more about the history of the kabuto on our special guest Dave Mitchell’s website.

If you can’t make the convention and want to take part, why not post a photo of your design on social media on the weekend of the convention (2nd -4th
September). Share it on BOS members Facebook group, or use the hashtag
#britishorigamiconvention on Instagram or twitter.
