#Gomodular day 8 – a4 Rhombic Unit by Nick Robinson

Diagram for this model is here

This easy to fold, versatile unit takes advantage of the geometry of the silver rectangle (a4 paper), an idea explored by other creators including Jun Maekawa, Dave Brill and Rob Foord.

We love the simplicity of the unit, and the way it can be used to create such a wide array of different geometric forms. The picture shows a rhombic dodecahedron (12 faces, made from 12 units).

Taking it further… Nick suggests just a few of the possible combinations! 12 units will also make other shapes like a stellated Octahedron, if you fold a diagonal crease across the rhombus.
