Cranes for Ukraine Take Flight

Ten thousand paper birds have been installed at Tynemouth Metro station in a symbol of solidarity with Ukraine.

The origami cranes have been created in blue and yellow; the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

The birds have been made by people around the world for the project by North Tyneside Art Studio, including members of the British Origami Society.

Sam Burgess from the Art Studio said “We are very excited to announce that we are launching the Cranes for Ukraine installation from 25 November. Get yourself along to The Bridge Gallery Tynemouth Metro Station and let us know what you think – #cranesforukraine.

We currently have over 6000 cranes hung in the space (and 9000 made) and will continue to add to this over the coming month. The installation will be exhibited until the end of March 2023.”
Thanks to everyone for your support so far!
